Zyrtec
Zyrtec is
an effective second generation antihistamine
for treatment of allergies. It is as
effective as traditional antihistamines, but
its safety profile is a good deal better.
Mostly,
Zyrtec is used for nasal allergies: seasonal
allergies (Hay Fever) and year round
allergies (Allergic rhinitis to household
pets, housedust, mold, and cockroaches).
Zyrtec is a
derivative of hydroxyzine, (Atarax) a strong
sedative, thus some patients, albeit, few,
respond with fatigue, loss of energy,
confusion, and clumsiness.
Nasal
allergies effect more than 40 million
Americans with nasal stuffiness, eye
irritation, itching, and runny nose.
Consequently, for well-being and a higher
quality of life, safe and effective
medications are much in demand.
Zyrtec is
FDA approved to treat both indoor and
outdoor allergies in toddlers from 2 years
of age and older. As with other second
generation products, Zyrtec comes in
multiple forms: syrup and tablets, with and
without added decongestants.
It is
particularly helpful when itching is a
dominant symptom.
