Hope
for Bad Lungs
Many with
difficult breathing have been left with
little hope – particularly had they been
cigarette smokers. Often they are labeled as
“chronic lungers” and “COPD’s”, and told
they have chronic bronchitis or emphysema.
Commonly,
they have been given antibiotics, cough, and
congestion medication. Some have been
treated as asthmatics. Often they have
purchased high end vacuum cleaners and air
purifiers. Mostly, none proved significantly
helpful.
In my
experience, most of these diagnoses were
incorrect. More often than not this
represented a persistent, smoldering chest
cold, incompletely treated, that was by now
self replicating.
This sub
acute or chronic inflammation responds well
to anti-inflammatory agents, particularly
corticosteroids. Typically, the patient will
improve within 24 hours.
