Formoterol
This is albuterol in a long
acting form. It’s onset of action is 3
minutes contrasted with Salmeterol’s 17
minutes. The good news is this rapid
action. The bad news is its rapid action.
Neither of these products is to be a
substitute for albuterol. It is too
tempting to rely on the “quick fix”
albuterol for treatment beyond acute
therapy. Maximum recommended use is twice
daily. The danger is overuse with a piling
up in the bloodstream. Cardiac side
effects can result.
